Pre-Move Checklist
To ensure a smooth moving day, please try your best to complete the following items. Please note, we offer packing services if you feel overwhelmed!
Before the Move:
Ensure all valuables such as jewelry are set aside for you to transport
Ensure all loose items are placed in sturdy boxes with tape on both ends and closed lids
Ensure all cabinets and closets have been packed or cleaned out
Ensure fuel is completely removed from gas engines for lawn mowers/weed eaters, etc.
Ensure refrigerators are defrosted or otherwise cleared of ice
Ensure grills are empty and as clean as they can be made
Ensure TV’s are ready to be removed from mounts by removing all wires attached
Ensure a clear path from the access point through the rest of the home, if possible
Ensure all trash has been bagged or otherwise removed from the home
Ensure clothing is protected and bundled in wardrobe boxes or garbage bags.
Ensure tools and other items in the garage are reasonably clean
Ensure chemicals are safely packaged, and indicate them clearly
Moving Day:
Ensure beds are stripped of linens and packed away
Ensure appliances such as refrigerators and washing machines are empty
Ensure children and animals will not interfere with work in progress
Ensure access to new home is possible as planned
Our Policies
We require a 48 hour advance notification to cancel or reschedule your scheduled move. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to complete your move if rescheduling is not requested at least 48 hours in advance.
Rates have a 2 hour minimum with 30 min. increment charge and a truck fee. Hourly rate includes movers, equipment with basic insurance and does not carry any other fees.
The customer or a representative must be present during the move and final walkthrough. It is the customer's responsibility to do a final walkthrough of the premises to ensure we have taken all items.
You must pay in full at the completion of the job. Method of payments: cash or credit card (visa/mastercard/discover/american express). For credit card payment your name and the name on the credit card should match. There is a 3% fee to pay with a credit or debit card. We accept checks on a case-by-case basis. Please let us know in advance if you need to pay with a check.
CIf the move requires work other than the job description, MoveMint reserves the right to fulfill other obligations before completing additional work. In order to be on time for the next move, we reserve the right to postpone additionally requested services till our next availability and/or after completion of other jobs that day.
We do not move grand pianos. We recommend hiring professional piano movers. We can move small upright pianos when moving from ground floor to ground floor.
Please empty all dressers, drawers, and file cabinets. For heavier pieces, these drawers may need to be removed for safe carrying.
MoveMint will not work in conditions that the crew feels are unsanitary, unsafe, or abusive. We reserve the right not to service you under dangerous, unsanitary, or abusive conditions, the determination of which is at our sole discretion. We will not be liable to you or any other entity for direct or consequential damages.
MoveMint will not work in unfloored attics. Ceiling damage and personal injury may result.
You are welcome to break down your own furniture before we arrive and reassemble after the job. Otherwise we reserve the right to disassemble items as needed for safe transport.
MoveMint cannot legally move the following items in our trucks: Sterno (gelled fuel), Fire Extinguishers, Household Batteries, Matches, Aerosols, Chemistry Sets, Kerosene, Cleaning Solvents, Darkroom Chemicals, Gasoline, Ammonia, Pool Chemicals, Propane/Propane Tanks, Motor Oil, Fireworks, Car Batteries, Charcoal, Charcoal Lighter, Liquid Bleach, Fertilizer, Paints (latex & oil-based), Paint Thinner, Pesticides, Firearms, Ammunition, Poisons (such as weed killer), Lamp Oils, Fuels. If any of the above items are packed and placed into the truck without our knowledge, all of our liability resulting from spills or fumes of these materials will be voided. You will also be held responsible for any damages to our equipment.
For safety reasons, small children and pets must be out of work area.
MoveMint will not be responsible for damage caused by non-routine moving including but not limited to, standing pieces on end, sharp turns, overcrowded work areas, difficult stairways, snags and sharp edges in work areas and doorways, handing over balconies, railings, tight squeezes, and damage caused by weather.
MoveMint reserves the right to reschedule a move in the event of inclement weather including, but not limited to, heavy rain, snow, or other severe weather conditions. If we proceed with a move during inclement weather, we will do our best to keep items protected, but cannot be held responsible for damages due to weather conditions.
MoveMint will not move flammables or hazardous material due to safety laws.
Damage claims must be noted on the contract at the completion of move. We ask you to report any and all claims within 3 days of your move. Please email description and photos of all damages to claim at chris@movemintllc.com
MoveMint reserves the right to compensate the customer for damages by deducting an agreed-upon value from final charges. This is at our discretion and cannot be assumed by the customer.
If at any point before, during or after your move you are dissatisfied with your service, please contact us at 601-255-4432. We will take every avenue to ensure you are satisfied with our work. We also don’t mind positive feedback!
Limits of Liability
The condition of any item(s) packed by the customer is not insured by MoveMint and is the responsibility of the customer.
The customer is responsible for packing and removing all valuables such as jewelry, currency, checks, credit cards, accounts, documents, laptops, firearms or other similar valuables prior to the scheduled move date.
MoveMint shall in no way be responsible for the working condition of electronic equipment, grandfather clocks, or any other piece of mechanical equipment.
MoveMint shall not be responsible for damage to accounts, bills, checks, evidence of debts, letters of credit, passports, tickets, documents, manuscripts, notes, mechanical drawings, securities, currency, money, precious stones, jewelry, or other similar valuables, paintings or other works of art; or property carried gratuitously or as an accommodation.
MoveMint shall not be responsible for damage resulting when moving household items that have deteriorated such as, but not limited to, lamp shades, mattresses, electrical wiring, etc.
MoveMint will not be responsible for plants or pets.
If you would like to help the movers with certain pieces, we are not liable for any injury caused to you, your item, or your home while you are helping.
MoveMint will not be responsible for damage to items requiring special instructions if the customer fails to provide such instructions including, but not limited to, disassembly or assembly of said items and any special preparation required. It is your responsibility to provide special tools if needed.
Fine art, collectibles, and other items of variable value must be pointed out to the crew so we can take special care of them. We will not be liable for damages unless notified of special instructions for these items due to the difficulty in determining their value.
MoveMint assumes no liability or responsibility for any items and cargo placed in the customer’s own vehicle or truck rental services and which MoveMint did not transport. We are only responsible for items in our immediate care, custody and control.
MoveMint may use dollies to move heavy objects such as, but not limited to, pianos, appliances, items over 300 lbs., etc. Any floor surfaces including but not limited to parquet, hardwood, ceramic, marble, entrance halls, etc. and any damage that may result to soft floors, such as, but not limited to, indentation, scuff marks, etc., are not the responsibility of MoveMint. However, we will take utmost care in protecting them.
MoveMint will disconnect and reconnect appliances such as washer/dryer or refrigerator. You or your representative must check and accept any plumbing connections. Any assistance we give is as a courtesy only. Water and drain connections are the responsibility of the user. MoveMint is not responsible for damage to plumbing, electrical systems, or water damage associated with the connection or disconnection of appliances.
MoveMint cannot be responsible for the working condition of major appliances. Please empty freezer/refrigerator contents for safe moving. We are happy to load these last and unload them first.
MoveMint will not repair pressed board or simulated wood furniture. This is furniture that is made from pressed wood or wood by-product material with a wood veneer applied. This type of material is not structurally strong, especially if it has screws. It is not repairable and we have seen it crumble from the smallest vibrations riding in a truck across town. We will do our best to move it successfully for you.
We are not responsible for the conditions of items placed into storage. You are responsible for providing protective blankets and other wrap, unless otherwise requested.
